FAQs
Window Tinting Questions, Answered.
Straight answers about privacy, heat, UV, glare and what to expect from residential window film.
Does residential window tint make my home darker?
It depends on the film. Lighter films let most of the daylight through and are hard to notice from inside. Darker and more reflective privacy films reduce more light, which some rooms welcome and others don't.
We'll help you find the balance between privacy, light and view for each room, so you aren't trading one problem for another.
Can people see through tinted windows at night?
Usually, yes. Reflective privacy films work best when it's brighter outside than inside. After dark, with your lights on, the effect reverses and people outside can typically see in.
If you want privacy day and night, frosted or decorative films are a good option. They blur the view in both directions while still letting light through. Many homeowners pair a daytime privacy film with blinds or curtains for the evening.
Does window tint help reduce heat?
Solar control window films are designed to reduce the amount of solar heat that comes through sun-exposed glass. How much difference you notice depends on the film, your glass and which way the window faces. We'll walk you through the manufacturer's performance details for any film we recommend.
Will window tint block UV rays?
Many residential window films block most UV, but the exact amount varies by product, so we'll share the specifications for the films we suggest. Reducing UV helps slow fading. Visible light and heat also play a part, so no film can stop fading completely.
Can window tint be installed on existing windows?
In most cases, yes. Window film is applied to the glass you already have. Whether a particular film is a good fit depends on your glass type, such as dual-pane, Low-E or tempered, plus its age and condition. We check that the film and the glass are compatible before recommending anything.
How much does residential window tinting cost?
The price depends on how many windows you'd like to tint, their size and access, and the film you choose. That's why every project starts with a free quote.

How long does installation take?
It depends on the number of windows and how easy they are to reach. We'll give you a time estimate with your quote. Film also needs a short time to cure after installation, and we'll let you know how long to wait before cleaning the glass.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Every project starts with a free quote. Tell us about your windows and what you want to improve, and we'll follow up to talk through your options.
Will window film change how my home looks from the street?
Some films are nearly invisible from outside. Reflective films give glass a mirrored look in daylight, and darker films look more tinted. We'll help you choose a film that suits the look of your home and your neighborhood.
How do I clean tinted windows?
Once the film has cured, clean it with a soft cloth or squeegee and a gentle, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid scrapers, rough pads and harsh chemicals. We'll give you care guidance for your specific film.
